With the recent spell of good weather we’ve had, it got us thinking, are you ready for summer? With more sunny weather just around the corner now, we feel it’s important that you make the most of it, and unsurprisingly during summer, our gardens tend to get a lot more use. Whether you’re hosting a barbeque, or inviting family and friends round, it’s nice to be able to sit out in the garden when the sun’s shining. One thing that becomes particularly more popular over summer, are awnings and canopies. Although the two are a little different, they are the perfect addition to your garden, and provide a great social area for you to enjoy outdoors.

We thought we’d talk about some of the benefits of awnings and canopies and tell you how they could bring your garden to life.

Awnings

Although we like to make the most of the sun on the special occasions that we get it here in the UK, it’s always good to have a bit of shade. Awnings provide a sheltered area, allowing you to still be outside and enjoy the weather, yet remain undercover if you so wish. Furthermore, as the weather can be a little bit unpredictable, it means that your day doesn’t have to be spoilt if it starts to rain, as you can seek shelter under your awning. As well as this, awnings also create an element of privacy. They enable you to relax more and enjoy the weather properly, not limiting you to summer only.

Due to the practical benefits of having an awning, along with the eye-catching appearance, they often add some value to your property. This is great as it means you can enjoy getting use out of it yourself but in the future if you go on to sell your property, it will be worth more and you will receive a higher sum for it.

Some are motorised or retractable, meaning that you have complete control over how far out it comes in your garden. For example, if it’s just you and your partner sat outside, you don’t necessarily need it to come far out and cover much of the patio, or on the other hand, you may host a party or invite guests round, therefore meaning you would need the awning to be extended to allow enough room for everyone.

Canopies

Although canopies are slightly different to awnings, they still have the same purpose and provide the same sort of functions and benefits. Ultimately, having a canopy in your garden or attached to your home creates a safer and more comfortable environment outside for you to enjoy. This is also great if you have children, as it provides an area for them to play outdoors in a sheltered space that you can ensure they don’t venture beyond.

Although the sun is something we like to enjoy and make the most of, having a canopy in your garden provides a shaded area and some protection so that you can stay protected from UV rays whilst still enjoying the outdoors and fresh air.

Canopies also add a bit of a focal point to your garden and can make it look completely different. This may be a good option for you if you are looking for a bit of a redesign and to upgrade the area. Canopies come in all sorts of different styles as well as sizes, so that you can find the perfect fit for your home and improve the exterior appearance. You will also find that canopies (as well as awnings!) are made with high quality fabrics, ensuring you a reliable and long-lasting purchase.

Both awnings and canopies are an affordable investment for your home that will provide a number of benefits and also increase the value of your property.
