Using Blinds to Add Character to the Room

blackout

Although blinds have a primary purpose, which is to cover up windows and control the light and privacy in the room, that doesn’t mean they can’t be used for other purposes. Blinds come in all different styles and designs, and so you can use this to get creative and add a bit of style and character to the room. Whether you want to go big and bold or neutral and subtle, you can pick the perfect blinds to create an impact in the room. With such a huge variety of blinds available to choose from, you can make it whatever you want it to be. You could go for something a little old fashioned and vintage, or something more modern and glamorous.

Here are a few ways you can use blinds to add character to the room…

Colours

You will find that most blinds, especially material based ones such as roller blinds and roman blinds, come in a variety of different colours. This is great as it allows you to match it against the rest of the decor in the room. It also means that you can choose whether you want the blinds to stand out or blend in. Perhaps you’re looking for some new blinds to go in the living room, and this is mostly made up of neutral colours. This is a perfect chance to add a bit of character and go for something more bright and bold. A burst of colour can change the whole dynamics of the room, and you can also coordinate this with accessories for example, that accentuate the room.

On the other hand, you may be looking to tone things down a little. If you already have quite a lot of bold colours throughout the room, you may want to use your blinds to keep the rest of the place subtle, and maintain focus on the already louder colours and design elements.

Patterns

Patterns are another great way to add character to the room. Whether you go for something with subtle and delicate patterns, or something much more loud and eye-catching, this is a great way to create a focal point in the room and make some noise. You will most often find patterned styles on roller blinds, however curtains are also notorious for this too. A lot of rooms have mostly plain walls, so adding a little section of patterns will certainly switch things up and give it a different feel.

Most patterned blinds and curtains tend to be pretty unique, and so finding the right fit for your room may be a case of looking around and finding something that captures your attention and stands out to you. Patterns certainly give the place a new lease of life and draw attention.

Styles

Although you may not necessarily realise it, looking at all the different styles of blinds available to you allows you to be a little creative. Aside from practical factors of them all, you can go for something purely based on aesthetics and how you think it will positively impact the design of your home. Do you want something wood based? Venetian blinds are fantastic quality and look very neat and compact on your windows. Pleated blinds also look very stylish and contemporary, and can be found in all sorts of different colours for you to choose from. There are a lot of things to consider when choosing the right blinds for your home, but we would definitely recommend considering all styles available so that you can find something that will add a bit of character to the room.
