Finding suitable blinds for your bathroom can be a little trickier than the rest of the house, due to the fact it is very much a water based room that gets hot and humid and tends to have a lot of condensation sat on all surfaces within the room. Because of this, you need blinds that are waterproof and able to cope with these sort of conditions and won’t become damaged or weak because of the water and dampness. Furthermore, although you want something practical and that is going to be reliable and stand the test of time, you also want something stylish and that visually matches the rest of the room. Luckily, with so many different styles of blinds available, you can find something that ticks all of these boxes.

Not all materials are compatible with steam and dampness and condensation, which is why you need to carefully consider the best and most practical styles of blinds for your bathroom. We thought we would tell you about a few of our favourites in this post!

Vertical blinds

Although you probably wouldn’t think of vertical blinds for your bathroom straight away, you can actually get waterproof vertical blinds that are perfect for this kind of environment. They aren’t typically the style you would expect to see in a bathroom, but they are great for a number of reasons. Not only are they waterproof and therefore resistant to water damage, but they are also fantastic for controlling privacy which is ideal for bathrooms, especially when getting a shower or bath. Vertical blinds are also very easy to clean and wipe down, making them quite low maintenance and practical. They are also quite simplistic in terms of design and so match just about any bathroom decor.

PVC blinds

PVC is a very practical, resistant and reliable material. You can get PVC vertical and venetian blinds, which are ideal for bathrooms as they are not impacted by water and steam. They are probably the most effective waterproof blinds you can get, and so if you are looking for something that is really going to withstand the dampness and humidity of your bathroom and not encounter any damage in the process, these are the perfect long-lasting blinds to go for. They are also very modern looking in terms of appearance, and you can choose what sort of finish you want on them, therefore allowing you to find the perfect visual match for your bathroom.

Shutters

Shutters are another style of blinds that cope well with water resistance and don’t tend to face any sort of water damage when situated in your bathroom. They have great practical features, such as easy light and privacy control, which again is ideal for your bathroom as you can maximise privacy when this is required as well as use natural light in whatever capacity you’d like. Depending on the design and atmosphere of your bathroom, you can even keep shutters closed all the time and just use the slats for controlling light and privacy.
